Nate Smith Co-Hosts 8/3-4

| July 29, 2024

The co-host this wknd is Nate Smith, who’s in the Top 5 with “Bulletproof.” It’s from his new 7-song EP called Through The Smoke. He’s on the road now with Morgan Wallen & Bryan Martin. He says he will release a new album later this year. Plus he talks about singing with Avril Lavigne on the ACM Awards.

Nate is currently opening shows for Morgan Wallen: ”They couldn’t have put me on a smaller tour!  It’s so cool for so many reasons.  The exposure is insane. We have a lot of people show up early.  But also to witness what’s happening with Morgan, and watch music history. It’s incredible to have a front row seat to that.”

Was there a difference between Morgan at the start of the tour, and Morgan now? ”Before I talked to him, I thought he’d be super cool. But then we met, and he was very normal.  Seeing him on tour, he’s still the same person.  He brings his dad on the road, and so do I.  I introduced my dad to his dad, so we have that in common. Just a nice guy.”

Lon played Nate some audio of Jordan Davis, saying his daughter is a fan.  That was news to Nate: ”What? How do we get in touch with Jordan.  That is so cool.  He’s such a big star.  What’s going on. I met up with him at the ACMs. I need to get in touch with him. That’s so sweet.  Kids love my music. I don’t know why.  I think it’s the melodies. That was cool.  Thanks, Lon.”

Nate says he met Post Malone at the ACMs: “I was just going to use the bathroom, and Post was in there. He said. ‘I need a cigarette.’  And he lit it up and didn’t like it. So I said, ‘I’ll take it.’  It was an American Spirit Menthol.  I started smoking that one, and he got a different one. Smokin’ in the boys room!”

That same night, Nat performed Bulletproof with pop star Avril Lavigne: ”I took a couple shots of tequila and smoked a cigarette with Post Malone. That’s how I got ready for the show. Me & Avril are good friends. We hung out and talked about doing more music together.  I’m so glad we did it.”

Nate also has great stories this week about Morgan Wallen, Carly Pearce, Bryan Martin, Keith Urban, and Bailey Zimmerman.

NEXT WEEK: Tim McGraw
