Chris Janson Co-Hosts 6/17-18

| June 12, 2023

This wknd Chris Janson will co-host the Countdown. His latest album, The Outlaw Side of Me, was released on June 16th. It contains his current Top 30 single “All I Need Is You.” The album also features guest performances by Darius Rucker, Brantley Gilbert, and Dolly Parton. Chris also has great stories about Tim McGraw, Shane Profitt, Cody Johnson, and Luke Bryan.

The new album has several guests, including Brantley Gilbert: “I love BG, he’s been a longtime friend. I was in Florida a couple days ago, driving down the street, and I see Brantley rolling past in a golf cart. So I called him and told him I just passed him, and goes, ‘Yo, shut up!’ He’s hard to miss, trust me.”

Chris just played a show in Detroit with Tim McGraw: “Here’s the best part. My wife told me afterwards that someone was throwing fruit at me while I was on stage.  So she walked backstage behind the curtain, and she saw Tim McGraw was the one throwing fruit at me. I gave him a hall pass on that one.”

Shane Profitt has his first Top 15 song with “How It Oughta Be,” and Chris recalled the first time he met Shane: “He came up to me & my wife in a restaurant and asked me to listen to his songs.  He was very polite, and I signed him to a publishing deal, and now we’re on the same record label. He hasn’t’ let being a star go to his head.  I’m real proud of Shane.”

Chris says he has a connection to Luke Bryan’s previous #1 “Country On.”  He told Lon, “That song was pitched to me, and it didn’t sound right for me. I told the writer to give it to Luke because it sounds like him. ‘If Luke hears this song, he will cut this song, and it will be a huge success,’ And it was.”

Lon asked Chris if he has bought anything new lately, and Chris told him this story: “I’ve always wanted a birth-year Chevy truck.  I just got a 1986 long-bed Chevy truck. I was driving it around town, and all of a sudden, the power drops out. Traffic is backed up.  I saw two guys sitting on a bench, and we pushed it off the road. One of the guys said, ‘You won’t guess who I am. I’m Lee Brice’s dad.’ So there you go, only in Nashville.”

Chris also has great stories this week about Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Cody Johnson, and Florida Georgia Line.
