Carly Pearce Co-Hosts 4/30-5/1

| April 25, 2022

This week’s co-host is Carly Pearce. She just spent last weekend with Kenny Chesney, opening his Here & Now Tour in Tampa. “Just to get to witness his return to his fans was almost a religious experience. At one point he said ‘I feel like the holy spirit is here tonight.’ He sad that to 58,000 people.  I could feel it.”

It was also Carly’s first time at a Chesney show: “I’ve always been a fan, his music is a soundtrack to my life, but I’ve never experienced it until now.  I equate his love affair with his audience is like Garth.  He’s in love with that stage and he’s in love with every one of those people. It was powerful to watch how you can captivate people like that.”

Did they sing together in Tampa? “We have something we’re going to sing together, we didn’t sing it opening night, because it was wild and everyone was just getting into the thing, but you will see us sing.  Stay tuned.”

Carly is the reigning CMA & ACM Female Vocalist of the Year. Lon played her the audio of the CMA win, and she said, “It almost still makes me teary, because that was one of the best moments in my life.  I kept falling.  My breath was taken.  I felt like so many of my peers were happy for me.”

The first person she saw when she won was Russell Dickerson: “When you watch the video and I’m blank staring, I’m staring at Russell, because he was sitting across from me in the audience, and we’re both staring at each other with our mouths wide open.  I’ll always have that moment with him.  It was awesome.”

She had a similar experience with Blake Shelton: “He was at the same party as me after the awards, and he said ‘Oh my God!” and he picked me up and hugged me. Then a few weeks later I went out to sing on The Voice, and he saw me come out and he goes, ‘Oh my God, there you are.’ He always has a way of making me feel comfortable.”

Carly told Lon that she just received a note from Elle King: “She sent me a DM on Instagram that this is the first time two female collaborations are in the Top 10 at the same time.  She said, ‘I’m so proud to be making history with you.’ Just to say that we did that is awesome. I’m glad we’re not competing with them now.”

Carly also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Walker Hayes, Elle King, and Scotty McCreery.
