LBT 1-22-13Little Big Town has had quite an incredible year, and Country Countdown USA has been with them the while way.  The year began with a Grammy nomination for “Your Side Of The Bed.”  The quarter won their first Grammy in 2012 for “Pontoon.”  They attended a Nashville reception in January for Grammy nominees.

In February, Little Big Town performed on two shows with George Strait on his “Cowboy Rides Away” Tour.  Karen said, “We had some big bucket list things and this tour was the start of it all.  I was slow dancing to The Chair in college, and now I’m standing next to him!” Were there moments from the tour you won’t forget? After the show, hanging out with him on his bus, he was playing DJ on the bus.  I loved it when he played Beyoncé.  He looked at us and said, ‘Watch this…this will get them dancing.’  It was fun to be with him.”Keith 3 2-1-14

In addition to Strait, Little Big Town did some shows with Keith Urban.  In March they wrapped up the Light The Fuse tour with a show in Nashville.  They joined Keith on stage for his #1 hit “You Gonna Fly,” and Karen also took Miranda’s spot in his duet “We Were Us.” They said, “He’s so generous and thoughtful.  It’s really impressive, and speaks to the person that he is.

In June, they hosted the CMA Music Festival TV special for the second straight year, and debuted their new single “Day Drinking.”  One week later, they got together with a group of Nashville reporters to discuss the song, as well as progress on their new album.  That day, they broke the news that it would be called “Pain Killer,” and would mark a significant change from their previous music.

LBT 6-24-14Little Big Town sang on several albums by others in 2014, including “I’m A Fire” by David Nail.  They also appeared on a Christmas album by Michael W. Smith.  The CMA Music Festival TV special aired in August.  In October, they invited the Nashville music community to a concert at the Nashville War Memorial Auditorium, where they performed their new album Pain Killer in order, from first song to last.  They had done something similar with the previous album Tornado.

LBT 10-2-14A few weeks later, they were invited to become members of the Grand Ole Opry by Reba McEntire.  Two weeks later, they were inducted by Vince Gill and Little Jimmy Dickens.  Then their album Pain Killer was released.  In November, they won the CMA Vocal Group of the Year award for the third straight time.  A few days later, they performed on the CMA Country Christmas TV special, and it will be seen on December 1st. LBT Opry
