LBT’s New Album Pain Killer
Little Big Town’s latest album is called “Pain Killer.” It features the Top 5 hit Day Drinking, but there’s a lot more to hear on the whole album. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke with the band about their latest work.
How does Day Drinking fit into the album? (Karen) Day Drinking is the first note on a long, adventurous record. It’s the most adventurous record we’ve ever made. But it’s like the party favor on the record. There are more party songs on the record. We did “Stay All Night” on the Jimmy Fallon show. The title song, Pain Killer, is a fun summertime song. There’s lots of different sounds. We wrote songs for a full week at the studio. The boys wrote a song called “Faster Gun,” and Kimberly & I wrote the last song, “Silver & Gold.”
Anything people will find like Pontoon? “Probably Pain Killer, which we hope will be the song for next summer. Our next single is Girl Crush. It’s an incredible song, it’s an age-old story of jealousy, but in a way you haven’t heard before. It comes from a female perspective. It’s one of the best songs we’ve ever heard. After the fourth line, it takes your breath away, because of the turn it takes. We grabbed it immediately.
