Keith Urban Wraps Fuse Tour

Keith 2-1-14Keith Urban wrapped up his Light The Fuse Tour Saturday night with a sold out show in Nashville.  Keith told the audience, “This has been the best tour in my life. I want to say to everyone a big thank you, especially the people who’ve been to more than one show.”  In fact, at one point, Keith brought a fan named Alexis on stage, and she told him she’d been to 9 shows.  She held a sign “I need a hug,” and she got much more than that.  She got a personal performance of a song she picked.  She was able to enjoy it from a recliner on the stage as Keith sang directly to her, then posed for pictures, and autographed her sign.  Keith 3 2-1-14

The 8 month tour also featured Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch.  The quartet joined Keith for the #1 hit “You Gonna Fly.”  LBT singer Karen Fairchild returned later in the show to take Miranda Lambert’s part in “We Were Us.”  She was sporting some new earrings, which she said were a gift from Keith. “Best end of tour gift ever!”

Keith DustinDustin Lynch also got a chance to sing with the headliner.  Halfway through the show, he came out to sing on “Kiss A Girl.”  There was a lot of good-natured joking around during the song.  Keith even surprised Dustin by sliding his guitar neck between the young singer’s legs at one point.

There were a couple of special guests during the concert.  Eric Church came out to sing “Raise ‘Em Up,” their duet from Keith’s new “Fuse” album.  Later, rock legend Peter Frampton did a bit of dueling guitars on The Beatles classic “Get Back.”  One week earlier, Peter appeared on the Grammy Awards as part of Ringo Starr’s band.  Keith was there as well, and in fact will perform “Don’t Let Me Down” on the Beatles 50th anniversary TV special next Sunday night on CBS-TV.

Keith warned the audience that the show would go a bit long, and he didn’t disappoint.  The encore included five songs, and went well past 11PM.  At once point, Keith dedicated a song to his wife Nicole Kidman.  He said she wasn’t able to attend the show because she’s filming a movie in Monaco.  He said she also had the couple’s two little girls, and he was going to fly there to be with her on Sunday.Keith 6 2-1-14

There were two moments when Keith left the stage to perform in the audience.  The first time came half way through the show, when he did three songs at a smaller stage set up behind the sound board at the back of the arena.  He did “Days Go By,” “Once In a Lifetime,” and “Better Life” there.  Then, at the end of the encore, Keith left the stage again during  “You Look Good In My Shirt,” running to a small stage just big enough for him in the middle of the arena.  At the end of the song, he signed his guitar and handed it to an amazed fan, and then ran back to the main stage, where he thanked the crowd again, and even signed autographs for a while.

Keith will now get a month off to be with his family, do a few selected shows in March and April, he’ll be in Los Angeles when American Idol does live shows in April and May, and then do a two-week tour of Australia in June.   He’ll return for more shows later this year, and they’re all listed at his web site KeithUrban.net
