Garth Brooks to Tour in ’14

| December 10, 2013

Garth HOF 2012The speculation is over!  Garth Brooks will tour in 2014.  He made the announcement Monday morning on Good Morning America.  He was speaking with the show’s Robin Roberts, and said, “You know what, since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it. We’re going on a world tour in 2014,” Brooks told Roberts. “I can’t believe I just did that but you are a doll.”  When he retired in 2000, he said he’d remain off the road until the last of his three children graduated high school.  That will happen in June 2014.

Garth has been promoting his latest album, “Blame It All On My Roots,” a boxed set of cover songs inspired by his Las Vegas show.  The boxed set has topped the country album chart for the past two weeks.  Garth has announced that he’ll perform two more shows in Las Vegas, this time with full band.  Those shows will now kick off rehearsals for the 2014 tour.

So what do we know about the tour?  Not much.  Press reports say it will be a three year world tour.  On Monday, Garth released a brand new single to radio titled “The Call.”  The song is a duet with Trisha Yearwood and is taken from the Las Vegas show.  It also appears on the boxed set.  The song runs 2:27, and features the two singers and Garth’s guitar performing the song in front of a live audience.

The irony here is that it’s very likely that Garth’s 2014 tour will kick off shortly after George Strait’s The Cowboy Rides Away tour ends in June.
