Sunday: Football, Carrie, & Strait

| September 8, 2013

Carrie NFLSunday is usually filled with professional football, with games airing all day, from noon to midnight.  But this week, the Sunday Night Football is kicking off in Dallas, so you know country music is part of the plan.  The Cowboys are playing the rival New York Giants in an NFC East showdown.  First up, Carrie Underwood will sing “Waitin’ All Day For Sunday Night.”  A few months ago, it was announced that Carrie would replace Faith Hill on the show theme.  She told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “We’ve done a lot with the NFL in the past, and they called about this, and we were able to do it, it’s exciting.  I really want to go to games.  I really love live sporting events, and like many American kids growing up, I watched a ton of football.  It was my favorite sport until I met hockey, and now they’re tied.”

If there’s anyone more popular in Dallas than the Cowboys, it’s George Strait.  He’ll serve as an honorary captain for the coin toss before the game.  George actually christened the stadium in June 2009, before the Cowboys ever took the field.  On Monday, George will have a Press Conference there hosted by CCUSA’s Lon Helton.  He will announce cities for the final year of his Cowboy Rides Away Tour.  It will be streamed live starting at 11AM CT Monday.
