Lon Congratulates Brett Eldredge

| September 1, 2013

Brett 1There are many “firsts” in a career.  Scoring that first #1 song is a major accomplishment.  We have a tradition at Country Countdown USA when an artist gets their first #1, Lon Helton calls them to offer his personal congratulations.  This week, the call was made to Brett Eldredge, who topped the chart with “Don’t Ya.”

So Brett…congratulations!  “Thank you, my friend.  This is an incredible feeling, I couldn’t be happier, and I thank everyone for supporting me this far and sticking with me.

Where were you when you got the news? “I was actually playing a show when it got to the point when the charts close, and someone informed me ‘You have the #1 song in country music right now,’ and I couldn’t even talk, I looed at the crowd with a pale face, is this actually happening, it was a cool moment to have right there on stage with the people who helped me get to that point. It’s the best feeling I’ve had in my life.

How are you celebrating? “I’m actually sitting by a pond in Indiana right now, fishing poles like Andy Griffith, and I’m going to celebrate at the place where it all started in my home town, and celebrate it with those who helped me get this far, so I’m celebrating it all right now, and couldn’t be happier.”
