Hunter Hayes Gets Skunked
Brad Paisley invited Hunter Hayes to play guitar on his latest CD “Wheelhouse.” Hunter recorded his part at Brad’s home studio, located in an old farm house on Brad’s property. When Brad was on Country Countdown USA a couple months ago, he told Lon the farm house had been invaded by skunks. We played that clip for Hunter, and he said, “It was so strong, I’d never experienced anything like that. We were four floors above it. This thing was probably under the basement. And I smelled it when I first walked in, and he mentioned it, told me somebody’s looking into it. So I thought maybe it’ll go away. And we went to the highest point in the house, and it wouldn’t go away. So I took my jacket off and rolled it a ball and put it where I thought it’d be safe. I also had a new amp with me. And we didn’t get used to it, because when we thought we’d get used to it, it would get worse. But we went over to his house to see his wife, and I got back in my car, and when I got in, the pureness of the car in the winter, and you realize what you’ve done to this purity. I drove all the way home, wondering what I was going to do. I got home, changed, hung my jacket outside, put my clothes in the washer, and I rolled the windows down and drove around for an hour trying to get the smell out. It took three days, I left it outside, sprayed it with everything, and it does get better eventually, you just have to wait a long time.”
