Zac Brown: Follow Your Arrow
Zac Brown is a huge fan of Kacey Musgraves. In fact, he calls her debut album, “Same Trailer, Different Park,” his favorite CD of the last ten years. He explained why to Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “I’ve been listening to that record non-stop. I even called her yesterday and said, ‘I’m listening to your record right now.’ She’s young but extremely talented. She has that concentration of talent I haven’t seen in a long time. Her lyrics, her presentation is without effort.”
At that point, Lon brought up Kacey’s song “Follow Your Arrow,” and Zac pointed to an arrow-shaped pendant on a gold chain around his neck, and said, “Dude, I found this in Italy. That’s my arrow. I don’t think I would have normally been drawn to it, but I found it after I heard her songs. That whole album is incredible. I’m trying to talk her into recording some things. I got to hang with her in California, and our band played ‘Follow Your Arrow.’ and she sat in with us. But the arrow, I got it in Italy. I was there, me & my wife had our first real vacation together a few weeks ago. But I found this arrow, and it was inspiring. That song is so true. It’s like you can’t please everybody, so don’t try. Just be yourself, make good decisions, but follow your arrow.”
By the way, Kacey will appear on Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Music Festivals this fall in Nashville and Charleston SC.
