The Band Perry’s Magic Grunt
The Band Perry’s latest hit, “Done,” is the fastest rising song of their career. It was written by the two brothers, Reid & Neil. But Reid told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that Kimberly made a contribution: “It’s funny, we spent weeks, days, months writing and recording this song, but the one part everyone talks about is the grunt at the end, that’s all they talk about. It was not written.” Kimberly said, “That was the KP magic!” And Neil added: “And now she wants a percentage of the song. I’m sorry, a grunt is not a word!”
Lon asked Kimberly how it came about: “I busted the line in the chorus. I messed it up. So while the recording was still on, I went ‘Ugh!’ Dann Huff our producer loved it so much that we kept it. One take wonder!”
