Keith Urban’s Hot Summer Night

KeithUrban FuseIf you want to “get closer” to Keith Urban, one way to do it is to attend his “Light The Fuse” tour this summer.  Keith leaves the stage several times during his show to bring his music directly to his fans.  Keith hosted a trip to Atlanta for Nashville media reporters where they were able to witness the show first hand.KeithUrban Fuse3

Keith began his show simply enough, as he and his band walked on stage without fanfare or special effects.  They launched into a brief instrumental, then segued to “Long Hot Summer.”  Four songs into the show, Keith stopped to talk with the audience, looking at the signs they were holding.  One young woman had a sign that Keith couldn’t see, so he stepped down to her seat, and escorted her to the stage, where they talked about the sign.  Keith then invited her sister, who was filming the exchange from her seat, to the stage, where they took pictures.  Moments later, Keith saw another sign inviting him to perform at the fan’s wedding.  Keith asked what song they’d like him to perform, and they said, ‘Making Memories With You.’  Keith obliged the request.

Back on the main stage, Keith performed his current single, “Little Bit Of Everything.”  The first line of the song says “Wish I could take a cab down to the creek, hang a disco ball from an old oak tree,” and a spotlight hit a huge reflective disco ball hanging from above the stage.  From there, he ended the show with “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me” and “Somebody Like You.”  In both songs, he made sure to demonstrate some of the guitar playing that has distinguished him as one of country’s best musicians.  He then left the stage to a standing ovation.

KeithUrban Fuse4The encore began with Keith seated at a piano, where he performed “But For the Grace of God” and “Tonight I Wanna Cry.”  After introducing one of his guitar players, Keith launched into “You Look Good in My Shirt,” and then left the stage for the third time, walking through the crowd to another hastily-built stage set up in the middle of the amphitheater.  He continued the song there, posing for photos, and even taking a hat from a fan and placing it on his head.  He finished the song and handed his guitar to a little boy in the audience, and then left for the stage.  Keith then thanked the crowd for coming to his show, and stayed behind after his band left to shake hands and pose for photos.

Keith Urban’s Light The Fuse tour brings new meaning to the words “tour de force!”  Keith artfully combines incredible musicianship with tireless athleticism, giving his fans the experience of a lifetime.  The sold out crowd in Atlanta left the amphitheater thoroughly entertained.  Keith Urban’s Light The Fuse Tour 2013 continues through December.  For a complete list of dates, go to KeithUrban.net  Keith will released his 7th studio album, Fuse, on September 10th.  Keith will co-host Country Countdown USA that week to discuss the new CD and talk about his tour.
