Zac Brown’s Homegrown Video
On the surface, Zac Brown’s video for his hit “Goodbye In Her Eyes,” might seem pretty simple. It was shot in a field with a small traveling circus. But there’s more to the story. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke to Zac about the making of the video: “That was set up in my front yard. The whole circus was set up, it was all shot in one day, but it took three days. My guys built the set pieces and the props. We really have a circus that lives here, but then we brought in all the animals, and it was legit. Everybody was involved, my wife made all the costumes for the lead actress. She sewed all the dresses, made all that from scratch. She’s a remarkable little lady.”
Why did you use a circus? What was the inspiration behind the video? There’s a line in the song, “Sometimes I feel like a clown that can’t wash off his make-up.” That was one of those lines that I wrote that says a lot in one line. That’s definitely my favorite line in the song, and we really feel like we really are a circus when we’re out traveling, so it was a natural fit. But that one line was the inspiration behind the video.”
