Randy Houser: At The 1 Yard Line
Randy Houser is sitting at the #2 spot in this week’s chart with “How Country Feels.” It’s a familiar position for Randy, who peaked at the same point in 2009 with “Boots On.” In addition, Randy was a co-writer of “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” which also reached #2 for Trace Adkins. Country Countdown USA caught up with Randy this week, and he described the feeling this way: “Right now, where I am today is as far as I’ve gotten with a song. We’ve always fumbled at the one yard line with a song, so we’ll see, it’d be a great way to start off a new year, I don’t know what I’m gonna do if I get a #1, I’m gonna scream somewhere. So if we could get there, it would be amazing.”
Randy didn’t write “How Country Feels,” but it came to him from the President of his record label: “He found that song and played it for us, and I knew I wanted to record it. It has one of those hooks with “Hair down, hair down,” and I thought, Man that sounds like a hit, and I knew I wanted to record it, so we got on it pretty quick.”
