Lee Brice Trash Talks Darius

| January 6, 2013

dariusruckerDarius Rucker is a lifelong fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.  Lee Brice played football for Carolina rival Clemson.  So when the two schools met on the gridiron last fall, Darius posted a message on his Facebook page: “Gamecocks vs Tigers OR Darius vs Lee Brice. Good luck Lee.”

Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Lee if he’d seen the message from Darius: “I did! There’s always good trash talking when it comes to that game.  It’s one of those, we talk trash all year, but we’ve been on the wrong end of the stick these last four years and I don’t like it very much.”

The game was actually held in Clemson, and Lee was invited to perform: “The best feeling, first time I headlined an arena, Clemson got in touch and said ‘We’d like you to play the night before the big game,’ on Friday night.  Needless to say, it was so great being back home, the crowd was awesome, and then I had all 200 members of the Clemson Marching Band come out at the end of my show for the encore on this song I wrote for the football team called Orange Empire.  They came out, all of them filled the arena, and played it with us.  It was epic!”
