Dierks & Miranda Are Reloaded

| January 21, 2013

Dierks tourDierks Bentley & Miranda Lambert just launched their Locked & Reloaded Tour.  As the name indicates, it’s a reunion for the two, and a chance to give their fans an extra bang for their buck!  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke with Dierks & Miranda at a Nashville rehearsal last week.

How’d this tour come about, Dierks? “We did this tour in the past, Locked & Loaded was my name for the tour in 2006, and Miranda approached me in a bar, surprisingly in Las Vegas, and she said, ‘We really need to go back on the road together, it’d be so fun, I’ve got this great idea, Locked & Reloaded, your show and my show, we’ll collaborate on some things, it’ll be fun.’  So we’ll do a lot.  We’re gonna do something at the end, we’re gonna do some country stuff, some rock stuff, and it’ll be a long, fun night for me.  The set looks great, her ideas for collaborations are great, we really want to do some things the fans wouldn’t expect.  We both love traditional country music, and we also want to do some different things too.  Looking forward to get out there.”

Miranda, talk about the songs you plan to sing together:  “That’s part of what we want to do is be in stage and sing together.  I feel people don’t do that as much as they used to.  In the old days they would collaborate more.  So we want to do a lot of songs together.  We’re all about the crowd having a party. He can be a Dierks Annie, and I’ll be a white tank top girl.”

Dierks this is the first time you’re using video in your show: “It’s fun, it’s like a big jungle jim out there for adults.  It’s one of those tours to relive high school again, with Miranda and her camp, we all get along so well, it’s a great tour, we got the checkbook out, got a new set, some video, let’s pretend it’s the last tour we’re gonna do.  What can we do video-wise, have a wide screen, just try to find a good blend between rawness of the show and the video.  We never had video, we always tried to do it with music, but like in Home there’s a picture of my dad, and there’s a new song that talks about my dad & I driving to Tennessee, so there’s video content in Every Mile a Memory, it’s a fun element for sure, something I never wanted to lean on, but to tell the story, it’s a lot of fun.”
