Dierks Hit Pitched To Lee Brice

Dierks Bentley’s current hit, “Tip It On Back” is heading straight for the Top 10.  Hard to imagine anyone else singing it.  But when Lee Brice spoke with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton, he confessed the song had once been pitched to him: “I was looking to finish up my latest album, and I got played two songs in a meeting that blew me away.  One was “I Drive Your Truck,” which is my new single.  But the other was Tip It On Back, and I just loved this song.  I asked if I could have it, and they said it was on hold by Dierks.  So I called Dierks and was like, ‘Man are you gonna cut this or not, cause I want it.’  And he said, ‘Uh, yeah I’m cutting it!’  Maybe it was my fault.  I should have said, ‘Are you REALLY gonna cut that?’  Just the inflection, that’s all it is.”

The good news is that Lee Brice is joining Dierks and Miranda Lambert on the Locked & Reloaded Tour: “Man I’m so pumped about that.  I’ve done a lotta shows with Dierks, and a lotta shows with Miranda, and I try my best to be entertaining on stage, so it’s gonna be a blast!”
