Jason Aldean Celebrates 9th #1

| July 17, 2012

Jason Aldean was the guest of honor at a party in Nashville Tuesday.  The reason was his 9th #1: “Fly Over States.”  Commenting before the party, Jason said, “You never know which song might be your last.  ‘Why’ was my first #1, and it was 3 years til our next one, so I learned not to take ’em for granted and enjoy ’em.  I think this is our 9th one, it never gets old, good to show up and celebrate with the writers and everyone involved.”

Speaking of the writers, they said that “Fly Over States” had actually been written more than 7 years ago.  The song had been pitched to numerous country singers before ending up with Jason.  He recorded it for his previous album, but it didn’t make the cut.  So it became one of the first songs recorded for “My Kinda Party.” Ironically it was the last single released, and became the 5th straight #1.

The party was held one day after Jason released a brand new single, called “Take a Little Ride.”  It’s the first single from his forthcoming 5th album, due out in the fall.  Jason said the new single follows the pattern sent by his previous 4 albums: “If you look at the history of each record we’ve had, we always come out with a big uptempo.  I feel like this song is a great song to kick off this record with, you can never go wrong with a big uptempo, it creates a buzz around the album.”

Jason’s new single mentions a Chevy in the lyrics, and the marketing for it shows Jason leaning against what appears to be a classic 1966 Chevy Malibu.  Jason said it may look like a hot car, but don’t expect to see it in his next video: “That was actually a photo shoot we did in California, it was just an old beater that didn’t even work.  We had to roll it into a spot where we could take a picture with it.  But I’ve never tried to get really too artistic as far as photo shoots with underlying meanings.  We took the picture on that car, but we had no idea we were going to use that to promote the single.  You think too deep for me!”
