Kip Moore On His First #1

| June 3, 2012

Kip Moore moved to Nashville from his native Georgia in 2004.  Four years later, he signed with MCA Records.  And now, four years after that, he has his first #1.   Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton called Kip to congratulate him on his accomplishment: “Thanks, I appreciate it, I’ll never forget this.  It’s taken me a long time to get here.  I moved to town nine years ago, and it’s the most gratifying unbelievable feeling that I can’t even really describe.”

So where were you when you got the news?  “I was in Rome Georgia, I was in my home state when I got the news that we got a chance at this thing.  Then at midnight it was official, and I was on tour with Billy Currington, it was our last show together, we all kind of celebrated, and it was a neat moment, he’s been so good to me on this tour, and it was neat to all celebrate together.”

So how long did you celebrate? “I don’t think I can talk about that on the radio.  There were a few shots thrown back, but the next day, I just had a lot of reflect time, I was thankful, I said my prayers, and I can’t believe I’ve gotten where I’ve gotten.”
