Kenny Reunites With Grace Potter

| June 16, 2012

Last year, Kenny Chesney had a big hit duet with Grace Potter called “You & Tequila.”  The song won the CMA Video of the Year.  It was also nominated for two Grammy Awards.  The success of that song caused Kenny to invite Grace & her band to join him on the Brothers of the Sun tour.  He also asked her to sing on his new CD, “Welcome To the Fishbowl.”  The song where they reunite is El Cerrito Place: “I tell you, Charlie Robison recorded that song a few years ago, and I lived with that song, it haunted me, about where I was in my life.  We all have this sense of searching, whether it’s love or lust, but I related to the character in this song so much.  I finally felt comfortable enough in my skin where I felt I could make this song my own.  I told my producer, we’re gonna make this song sound like a chapter in a book, and it’s my favorite moment on the record, and of course Grace Potter is singing harmoney, and she makes yo feel the person’s pain.  It’s like an out of body experience of wanting something so bad, but not being able to have it.  It’s an incredible song.  You can get lost in the lyrics, and I’m looking forward to have people hear it.  It elevated this album, and fits the rest of the songs now.  I feel a song has its time and place.  I have this theory that great songs find their place.  I’m glad I waited.  A lot of songs are emotional like that”
