Taylor Swift Wins ACM Entertainer

She had an amazing year, with the #1 tour, the #1 album, #1 song, and even a #1 soundtrack.  Sunday night, Taylor Swift was named Entertainer of the Year at the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Backstage in the media room, Taylor said that Kevin McGuire, the teen with cancer who was supposed to join her at the awards, developed a virus a couple days ago, and he couldn’t make the trip.  Taylor spoke to him by phone on Saturday, and said she hoped they could try again once he’s well.

The tour just wrapped up, so does this award cap off the year?  “This is a great way to cap it off.  For me, Speak Now has been a two year thing for me that I was proud of, the tour provided some of the most exciting moments in my life, whether it was special guests, playing stadiums, and for me, it’s always what’s next, so I’m intensely writing my next record right now.”

Talk about this weekend:  “This weekend has been amazing.  Yesterday I was at the Kid’s Choice awards, and I’d never been there before.  The First Lady gave me an award for charitable contributions, and I’d never met her before.  I’d always been nervous about meeting her because I’m a big fan and she’s such a role model.  And she was so cool, she was so nice, I met her daughters, and it was an amazing time yesterday.  Then I fly to Vegas and this happens, I’m accepting Entertainer of the Year.  I’m really happy right now.”

Talk about your fans, and what they’ve done for you.  Also, your cat Meredith and her viral video:  The fans, I am so amazed they keep doing so many nice things for me.  With all the success with the songs from Hunger Games, I just want to hug them all the time and thank them for everything.  For the cat, I guess I’ll give her milk?  Tuna?  We should celebrate.  The cat helped with the viral video, I don’t think she knows that she helped, but I’m excited about it, and very thankful.”
