Lady A Dave’s Bachelor Party

Last Saturday, Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood got married.  A few weeks before, he had a pair of bachelor parties.  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton got the details from Dave & Charles: “We did one for the band, we went to some bar in Moline Illinois.  It was our on-the-road bachelor party.  We did what we always love to do which is pitchers of beer and played pool all night.  Pitchers & pool.  I had another one a couple months ago when we were in Dallas.  We stayed after for a hockey game with a couple guys.  So it was fun.”

Lon was in Kansas City a couple weeks ago to see the Lady Antebellum show.  He sat at the sound board in the middle of the arena with Dave’s new wife, Kelli.  He found out that the two actually met five years ago, before Dave had success with Lady Antebellum.  Lon asked Dave about that on Country Countdown USA: “I met Kelli right when I moved to Nashville.  We met through a mutual friend, one day after church, at lunch.  We met before we started Lady Antebellum.  I remember the first couple weeks, I told her that we were going to start this group, that was probably 6 years ago.  It wasn’t until a year ago we started dating, but we’ve been friends for a long time, so it’s been great to have this friendship for five years just to build upon for our beautiful relationship.”

Lon recalls Kelli saying that Dave was doing accounting at the time, and she suggested to him that accounting was more a stable career: “Kelli is in the record business, so she was like, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’  I had an accounting job before this, and she said, ‘If you want a good stable job, just do that.’  But I love the uncertainty of this business.  It’s the fun part.”
