Country Stars At The Super Bowl

| February 3, 2012

The main event at the Super Bowl is the football game Sunday evening.  But the host city of Indianapolis has been has been celebrating all week.  For ten days, the area around the Lucas Oil Stadium was turned into Super Bowl Village.  At one end, there was the Convention Center that featured the NFL Experience.  There, fans could try their hand at playing the game using many of the tools the pros use.  They could buy souvenirs, including clothes, hats, and programs.  From there, fans travel down the street for sports trivia, rides, and food.  At the other end of the street, there was live music on two stages.

Several major country stars performed for the fans at Super Bowl Village.  Last Sunday night, Dierks Bentley braved 20 degree temperatures, and heated the crowd up with hits like “Am I The Only One” and “What Was I Thinkin.'”  Dierks said, “I love football.  It’s great to get a chance to perform at the Super Bowl.  It’s such an American thing.  I can’t wait to watch it, I’m looking forward to a great game.”  Thursday night, Darius Rucker came to town.  Darius is a huge football fan, so performing at the Super Bowl is a great come true. “Football is real important to me.  For me, just to be able to go to the Super Bowl, that’s a blessing to me these days.”  Sara Evans performed at a charity event, The Taste of the NFL, on Saturday night.

Saturday night, Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler will performed a live CMT Crossroads broadcast.  The two made their first appearance last April at the Academy of Country Music Awards.  Things went so well, they decided to do an entire show together.  You can watch a repeat of the one hour show Saturday February 11 at 10PM ET.

When Carrie co-hosted the Countdown last year, she talked about singing with Steven Tyler at the ACMs: 11-39 BC4

Speaking of Sunday, country stars will take part in the Super Bowl pre-game activities.  Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert will perform America The Beautiful.  Then after the game, Blake will return to his coach’s chair for the Season 2 Premiere of “The Voice.”
