Country Goes To Grammy Awards

| February 11, 2012

The 54th annual Grammy Awards take place Sunday night in Los Angeles.  Country stars will be in full force in the audience and on stage.  Triple nominee Jason Aldean will perform his nominated hit, “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with previous winner Kelly Clarkson.

The Band Perry will be part of a tribute to Glen Campbell.  The trio is the only country artist in any of the all-genre categories.  They’re nominated for Best New Artist, along with Bon Iver, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, and Skrillex.  Kimberly Perry told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that it will be the group’s first time at the awards show, even though they were nominated last year.  They will fly in Sunday morning from a show in Tacoma Washington.  The Band Perry will be joined by triple nominee Blake Shelton in the tribute to Campbell.

Lady Antebellum are in LA for the entire weekend, and will present an award on the show.  The trio won five trophies last year, and are nominated this year for Best Country Album.  Also in that category is label-mate Eric Church, who is very excited about his first nomination: “The Grammys are the Holy Grail for every recording artist. The thing I’m most proud of is we were able to get the Grammy nomination without ever changing what we do.  I’m very proud to have the Grammy nomination, and I look forward to going to the Grammys.”

Carrie Underwood will perform with the legendary Tony Bennett.  Triple nominee Taylor Swift will also perform on the show.   Other country presenters include Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, and Reba.  The entire show will be broadcast live on CBS-TV.
