Scotty: Wasn’t Prepared For Fame

| October 7, 2011

One year ago, Scotty McCreery was a normal 17-year-old high school kid who occasionally sang around North Carolina.  Then on a whim, he and his family went to Milwaukee and tried out for American Idol.  Now Scotty has stories about stars like Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban.  Lon Helton, host of Country Countdown USA, asked Scotty if there was anything he wasn’t prepared for in the weeks after winning: “A lotta stuff.  The fame part is something you can never be prepared for.  Especially coming right out of a box.  We were kept in a bubble, and now we’re out in the public, it’s tough to do the normal stuff like going to dinner, but that takes time to get adjusted to, but it’s incredible what singing a few country songs can do.  They took us to TMZ and they gave us a crash course of what not to do in front of a camera, and that made us worry even more.  I’m 17, I’m going to mess up at some point.  But you can’t worry about it too much.”
