Kenny Chesney Recalls Lambeau

| September 17, 2011

There were many highlights for Kenny Chesney from this year’s Goin’ Coastal tour.  Kenny covered many of them during his conversation with Lon Helton of Country Countdown USA.  But performing at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, where the Green Bay Packers play, was more than a highlight of the year, according to Kenny: “Playing Lambeau Field in Green Bay was not just a highlight of my career, but my life, because I recognize the history of the place where I was playing, what it’s meant to that town and to football, it’s an American iconic venue.  So the first time that I wanted to see the inside of the stadium is when I sang my first song.  That was one of the most unbelievable moments of my touring career.  When Mike McCarthy of the Green Bay Packers coach brought out the Super Bowl trophy during Boys of Fall, that was incredibly loud. I didn’t know he was gonna have the Super Bowl trophy.  That place shook.  He yelled in my ear, ‘This is why you sang that song.’  To play that song in that town at that stadium with the coach and the team that won the Super Bowl, and to almost celebrate it, that was definitely a highlight of the Goin’ Coastal Tour.”
