Jake Owen Has A New Dog
A few years ago, Jake Owen told us he had an English bulldog he named Vern. Jake brought Vern on the road, and became a popular companion. Recently we heard Vern has company around the house. Jake has a new bulldog, who he named Merle. He talked about his dogs with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “I retired Vern from the road. He spent 3 years on the road, and he got to the point, bulldogs have a short lifespan. As they get older they get moody and irritable. So Vern stays at the house and Merle has taken over as the bus dog, and he loves it. The voration of rolling down the road, he passes out. They don’t do much.” So you have two bulldogs in a townhouse? “A lot of my friends visit me and they say, ‘Dude, you live in a townhouse?’ To live there you need to be there often. I just put my stuff there. But that’s the good part about bulldogs. They don’t do much. They just chill out on the couch.”
