Jake Owen’s 30th Birthday Present

Jake Owen celebrated his 30th birthday last Sunday on the road in Dallas.  No big party or fanfare.  Mostly a quiet day spent with some family and friends, then a big show for over 20,000 people with Keith Urban.  But there was one small gift he bought himself: A new golf club!  Jake told Country Countdown USA host Lon Helton, “I bought myself a new driver.  I spent four days in a row on the road hoping I could walk in a golf shop and find the driver I was looking for.  Then we were in Dallas, and the pro shop had it, so I bought myself a driver, a good looking shirt, and some shoes.  I told the guy if I play as good as I look, I’ll play pretty well.”

Jake got a few gag gifts from his friends as well.  He told Lon, “They thought it was funny to get me some glucosamine for joint pain, and a bottle of stool softener.  So I said like, ‘You guys are really funny.'”

The day after his 30th birthday, Jake released his third album, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”  Jake will join Lon Helton as co-host of Country Countdown USA over the weekend of September 10-11.
