Eric Church: Boys Don’t Break

| July 13, 2011

Eric Church and his wife are expecting their first child in October.   Last month, he announced they’re expecting a boy.  This week, Eric told Westwood One that he is relieved that his first one will be a boy.  “Boys are durable, they seem to be able to be dropped better.  I can’t imagine dropping a girl.  They bounce!  So it’s one of those things that I’m more comfortable, I know what to do with a boy vs. a little girl.  I was terrified it was going to be a girl.  The second one will be OK.”

Eric also said that he spoke with Dierks Bentley, who is now the father of two little girls, about how the life of a musician can be changed by fatherhood.  Eric says, “I think in my head I can analyze, but until the child gets here, you try to get ready, but the best advise I’ve gotten is to quit stressing because you’ll never be ready.  My wife is in her “cleaning, nesting” mode right now, so it’s testing my sanity when I’m home.  I’m not the cleanest person in the world, I come home, and she’s vacuuming me, I can’t be clean enough to be in the house right now.”

Eric is also about to give birth to his third album, titled “Chief.”  It features his current Top 15 hit “Homeboy,” and it’ll be released on July 26th.
