Brad Co-Hosts From Home

| May 27, 2011

This week, we took the Countdown on the road again. This time it was about ten miles south of Nashville to the home of our co-host Brad Paisley. Brad has a farm on an isolated country road with a custom log home, his own lake, and the original farm house. Years ago, he told us about buying the property, and living in the farm house while he built the log house. But now, he’s turned the farm house into a guest house, with a huge kitchen, and a comfortable living room, where he keeps a few of his awards, including two ACMs and a Grammy. On the second floor, where there used to be bedrooms, he’s built a small studio. That’s where we taped the Countdown.

We arrived about five minutes early, and several of Brad’s band members were planning a video shoot that would be part of the H2O II Tour. A few minutes later, Brad arrived in a golf cart. His father was there as well. We all went into the first floor kitchen to see an advance of his video for “Old Alabama.” Then we headed up the stairs to the studio. The control room may have been the master bedroom at one time. This is where Brad recorded several of the vocals for his new CD, “This Is Country Music,” including his duets with Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton.

By the way, the bobblehead next to the right speaker is of Brad’s friend William Shatner from his time on the Fox drama “Boston Legal.”  There are several other items of Brad’s Shatner collection scattered around the house, and I understand Bill once stayed at the house when he was in Nashville.
