Morgan Wallen Co-Hosts 2/12-13
This week’s co-host is Morgan Wallen, who is in the Top 5 with Sand In My Boots, and also launches his first headline tour this week in New York City. The tour was supposed to start last week, but was postponed because of ice storms: “It’s a little disappointing when that happens, but we’ve got them rescheduled.”
On Sand In My Boots: “Hardy sent it to me on my birthday, and I knew it was special. Obviously when Hardy sends me something, I’m gonna listen. This one felt super-special.”
On his first show back last July with Luke Bryan: “There was a bit of nervousness for me, and for him. I didn’t want to put him in a bad spot. I wasn’t nervous for the fans. I’ve always been thankful for them, but they overwhelmed me with that response. It took me back. After so long with everything going on, I wanted to feel the joy of that moment.”
On the continued support from his fans: “I feel like they understand me, they understand my heart. That my heart is not the way some people paint it to be. Obviously there are things I would take back and do differently. But there are things people are trying to make me out to be that I know I’m not. I think my fans and country fans in general agree with that.”
On support from country radio: “Obviously with things going on, you worry about if everything will be the way it was, are people gonna completely shun me, you don’t know. So it’s been awesome to see, it felt good to me, and I appreciate it.”
On his friendship with Jimmie Allen: “Me & Jimmie have been friends since we met, and we stay in touch constantly. He publicly came to my defense, he also wanted me to be accountable, but he knows me, he knows that’s not who I am. He’s been awesome to me and I appreciate his friendship.”
On this last year, and where he’s at now: “I’ve been trying to reflect on myself and my behavior. No matter what my intentions were, I realize my words carry a lot of weight. I didn’t always know that, but over the last year, I’ve learned that. There have been a lot of people who have been kind and gracious to me. I’m trying to be better, and not let things I hear get in the way. I know people have opinions of me. I’m probably not going to get everyone back. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that one mistake is not what defines me. That’s not who I am. I’m going to continue to grow and be better.”
Morgan also has great stories this week about Dierks Bentley, Hardy, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, and Florida Georgia Line.
