Carrie: “Isaiah Is An Easy Baby”
Carrie Underwood became a mom on February 27th, when her son Isaiah Michael Fisher was born. Carrie talked about her first four months of motherhood with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “It’s great. I didn’t know what to expect, everybody told me it was like nothing else, you love something that you just all of a sudden, cause I think that’s a fear every parent probably has. What am I gonna do with it? Am I gonna connect with my baby? It’s just the second I heard him cry, it was like oh my gosh, I was in love, and I am in love. I was way more chilled out than I thought I’d be. I thought I’d be a nervous wreck all the time. He’s an easy baby too. So we’re easy as parents.”
Explain the name: Isaiah Michael Fisher. “Well Michael is my husband’s name, so we worked that in there. But Isaiah, we wanted a more traditional name, but not one we hear all over the place. We actually came down to two names, Isaiah and Caleb, and it was in the delivery room when we had to pick a name to put on the birth certificate. I was like, I don’t know any Isaiahs, and Mike didn’t either. The name is Biblical, so that was it.”
What do you call him? “Isaiah. I thought I’d call him Izzy, but it sounds wrong. I call him Isaiah.”
Will you take Isaiah on the road? “Yes. We’ve outfitted the bus for the baby. I’m a planner, and I have to have everything planned out in advance. Our bus will have two crib situations. One will be in my room in the back, and the other will take half of a bunk. We’re working it out. We have locking mechanisms on all the doors. There’s a trash shoot, but there are locking mechanisms on the trash shoot so he won’t crawl in the shoot. I’ve lost sleep thinking about having him on the road with me.”
More children in the future? “Oh yeah! Not concrete plans right now, but we have one, what’s two? Might as well.” Lon pointed out that 1 + 1 does not equal 2. Carrie’s response: “You’re still man to man defense. It’s when you get 3+ that you’re running a zone defense. Mike has 3 siblings, and he loves the idea of 4 kids. I said, ‘Maybe two is good. We’ll take them one at a time and see how we do. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
You’ve posted photos of Isaiah: “Yes, we don’t want to go overboard, we want to share with the world, because we’re happy proud parents. We want to show off our adorable sweet baby, like everybody else. But we try not to go overboard with it.”
One more thing, you look fabulous! What have you done special? “I’m into fitness and healthy lifestyle choices anyway. I ate well and worked out throughout my pregnancy. Afterwards, I have him to focus on, but I also have me to focus on. I am breast feeding, so it’s important that I’m getting the necessary nutrition I need. It’s been fun getting back into the swing of things. I can go for runs again, and feel like me again.”
