Dierks Bentley Rides For Kids
Dierks Bentley’s 8th annual Miles & Music motorcycle ride & concert got underway Sunday morning south of Nashville. Hundreds of avid cyclists lined up on a cool and clear fall day to take part. Before the ride, Dierks said, “It’s great, the weather’s awesome, some cool celebrity guys here, my buddy Mike Wolf from American Pickers and Eric Close from Nashville, then go downtown, catch up with Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, and Easton Corbin. My bike’s been here since last year. It’s been such a busy year, I hope I can remember how to ride!”
Once again, the event benefits the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and Dierks said it takes on new meaning as he now has three children. “Once you have kids, I feel fortunate, and want to give back to those families who’re struggling right now, so it takes on a lot of meaning for sure.” Easton Corbin was also on hand for the ride: “It’s a great way to kick CMA week off, to help a great cause like Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and ride motorcycles, it’s a great combination, and a lot of fun.” Dierks says a lot of people gave up their Sunday for the cause: “Sunday’s are pretty valuable, when you have a family, the fans, the motorcycle community, so many people who give to this one event, so it’s pretty special.”
Dierks and his wife just became parents of their first son, Knox, and Dierks said it’s busy around his house now: “I sleep great, I’ve got earplugs and sleeping pills. Just kidding. We’re doing good. My wife is a trooper, we get two hour blocks of sleep, a lot of nursing, he’s a good little boy, making it easy on us, He hasn’t been too fussy, but my wife, it’s an amazing skill.”
The ride was sort of an unofficial start to CMA Week, and Dierks said it was on purpose: “It’s really cool, we moved the ride back a little bit so it coincides with CMA week, so we risked the cold factor or weather factor, but we got good weather, so it feels like it’s CMA Week, and I know from Twitter some people came from a thousand miles away to be here, so I’m happy we’re tying the two together.”
Mike Wolf of American Pickers brought a 1944 Harley Knucklehead with sidecar, and his wife joined him for the ride.
