Aldean Just Wants To Win Once

Jason Aldean is nominated again for CMA Entertainer of the Year.  Jason told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that he’d love to win Entertainer most of all.  Also in that category are Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, and George Strait.  Jason said,  “I don’t care about the rest of them, but being nominated with George Strait…that’s what I’m talking about!  As far as Luke, Blake, and Taylor, you look at all the artists who get nominated, and to be one of those few is a big deal.  That’s one of those that’s eluded us, and it’s big.  I’d like to one day, before my career’s over, get my hand on one of them.  I’m not greedy, I just want it once.  The rest of these guys already have one!   The fact that George Strait is in it this year is really cool.”

George Strait won Entertainer for the first time in 1989.  How does that make you feel?  “It says I was 12 when he won it, and he’s still in it.  There’s no doubt we’d all like to be in the business that long.  He’s the man, he’s the reason why people wear cowboy hats.  He made it cool.  We’re lucky enough to go out on tour with him next year, we’re looking forward to that, and if he wins this Entertainer of the Year thing, maybe he’ll let me hold it for a few minutes.  Walk around with it for a day.”

Aldean is also nominated for Male Vocalist and Vocal Event for “The Only Way I Know.”  The CMA Awards will be presented on November 6th, broadcast live on ABC-TV.
