Blake’s Hollywood Confrontation

A couple years ago, Taylor Swift & Jake Gyllenhaal were in the news.  At the 2011 ACM Awards, co-host Blake Shelton said about their reported breakup: “What in the world was Jake Gyllenhaal thinking anyway? Wait a minute, he was in ‘Brokeback Mountain.”  At the time, it got big laughs, and nothing more came of it. 

But now Blake lives in Hollywood, and hangs out with fellow coach of The Voice Adam Levine.  He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that can sometimes lead to an uncomfortable moment: “Adam was born and raised in Los Angeles, and he knows everybody.  I was sitting at his house one night, and you do things sometimes and you don’t think about the repercussions.  So I did this joke a couple years about Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal, never thinking I’d see the guy.  There I am at Adam’s house, and he says ‘Hey Jake’s coming over.’  Oh who’s Jake?  He says, ‘I went to high school with him.’ And he comes walking in, looks at me, and he turns, and Adam comes over later and says, ‘Jake’s upset, did you say something?’  ‘Yeah I did on an awards show.’  He says, ‘Just go tell him it’ll be cool.’  I was like oh crap! I hurt the guy’s feeling!  So I told him, ‘I was just reading a joke off the thing,’ and he goes, ‘Yeah I know, I just didn’t know if you were an ass,’ and I said, ‘Well I am, but didn’t mean anything bad.’  So that’s the kind of glimpses in life I get hanging out with Adam.”
