Toby Keith Salutes A Soldier

Everyone knows that Toby Keith supports the American soldiers around the world.  Earlier this year, he did his tenth USO tour of military bases.  But his support of the troops didn’t stop there.   He talked about it with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “We got a call from a friend who told me there was a woman gonna be at our show in Houston and her husband was returning from Afghanistan.  He’s gonna get home a day early, he hasn’t seen his wife since he got deployed 18 months ago.  He is not going to see her when he gets home.  He hid at his buddy’s house, she didn’t know he was coming in, and they pointed her out to me at the show.  So during American Soldier, I say ‘This is not only for the warriors who fight wearing our country’s uniform, this is also for the families of them.’  I’d been watching her and she was holding a sign about her husband, so I pulled her out of the audience, and during the song, he walks out and stands beside her, and she looks over and says, ‘What are YOU doing here?’  And they embraced and it was a wonderful moment that they were standing on stage in front of 20,000 people.”
