Kelly Clarkson On Her CMA Nom

When the CMA nominations were announced a few weeks ago, perhaps one of the biggest surprises was Kelly Clarkson in the category of Female Vocalist of the Year.  That’s because Kelly hasn’t had a solo country hit.  Jason Aldean announced the CMA nominees during Good Morning America  in New York.  He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton he immediately texted his congratulations to Kelly: “I texted Kelly that day and her response was, ‘Maybe one day I can earn that nomination.’  I thought to myself, when you’re talking about Female Vocalist, she was part of one of the biggest songs of the year.  I don’t think anyone would debate that she’s one of the best vocalists around.  She’s been heard on country radio, and I don’t know how you can not include her in that category this year.  So I think it’s awesome that she’s up for that award.”
