McGraw: Daughters Not Dating Yet

| May 26, 2012

Tim McGraw is the father of three girls, with the oldest in high school.  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Tim if any of them are dating yet: “No!  Gracie’s 15, so I’ve got a good 15-20 years before that happens.  I told her that my goal is the nicest guy who comes home with her, I’m gonna punch him.  Cause if you hit the nicest guy, you don’t have to worry about the others.”

Now that Gracie and Maggie are teenagers, are they asking about driving yet? ” Yeah, I’ve had her driving, even the middle one.  She’s been driving for a while, she’s pretty good.  But we’re always there with her.  She hasn’t gone out on her own yet.  Someone told me once you have children, you never sleep the same again.  But they didn’t warn me that it comes in stages and gets worse and worse.”

A few weeks ago, Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox said he ran into Tim pitching at a girl’s softball league.  We played that story for Tim, and he explained:  “They’re in an instructional league, and normally the kids pitch.  Then the coach starts pitching and they get excited when the coach pitches cause you give ’em a good one to hit.  But I loved doing it, and I did it for both of my other daughters.  This is for ten year olds, and they have a lot of fun, and I enjoy being out there with them.”

Even though Tim is a big celebrity, he finds he can still be a parent, and do the things most parents do with their children: “When we decided we wanted to have children, we wanted to put our family first.  So we were both successful before we got married, so out of respect for everyone who works hard and has that goal of putting family first, we had that option and that opportunity because of the success that we had, we were in a position to say that and follow through with that.  Everybody wants to do that, but sometimes it’s more difficult.”
