Jordan Davis Buy Dirt
This week’s co-host is Jordan Davis, who is in our Top 5 this week with “Buy Dirt.” Jordan told Lon, “For us, Buy Dirt is about faith, family, and friends. That’s what we wanted it to be.”
Jordan says that he waited 12 days for Luke Bryan to agree to sing on it: “I reached out to him, and he said, ‘Let me live with it.’ Twelve days later, he said, ‘Let’s book the studio and do this.’ I told him, ‘You had me on pins & needles for 12 days.’ He said, ‘You should have known I was gonna sing on that.'”
Luke made a point to join Jordan in the studio: “He could have had me send him this song, and we could have done it without us being within 100 miles of each other. But he took time and came to our studio, and after each take, asked if it was OK.”
Jordan & Luke were also together for the video shoot: “This huge storm came while we were shooting the video, and we had an hour while it rained. At that point, Luke came over and said, ‘Hey, you wanna sit here and watch it rain, or do you wanna go to my farm and look for red stag?’ I said ‘Let’s do that!’ So we drove to his place, saw turkeys & deer, drank cold beer, and that’s what was going on during the video shoot.”
Jordan was on the road with Kane Brown last fall: “I was able to know about his new daughter before everyone else. His wife walked into catering, and I looked over, and told Kane, ‘I’m pretty good at picking out pregnant people, and I’m pretty sure your wife’s pregnant.’ He goes, ‘Yeah man, we haven’t told anybody yet.'”
In September, Jordan & his wife Kristen welcomed their second child, a son they named Locklan. Lon asked about the name: “There’s a neighborhood in Nashville called Lockland Springs, and the second that name got thrown out, I was all in on it. Luckily my wife loved it too. So that’s how he got his name.”
Jordan also has great stories this week about Dierks Bentley, Hardy, Jameson Rodgers, Cole Swindell, Jon Pardi, and Michael Ray.
