Sam Hunt Joins Taylor Swift

Last month, Sam Hunt was invited by Taylor Swift to join her on stage during her 1989 Tour at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Sam described the day with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “She was nice enough to invite us out to play ‘Take Your Time’ during her set in Chicago, so we slipped in there on a Sunday afternoon, and got to play in front of her audience, and did a bit of a duet, I guess you’d call it, but it was pretty cool.  I’ve been a fan of hers for a lot of years, and she’s done a great job, and it was nice of her to invite us out on her tour.

Did you talk to her about why she chose you? I did, I got to meet her on that trip, and we chatted a bit, got to know each other.  She didn’t explain specifically why she invited us out to play.  But she’s always been aware of what’s happening in country music, pop music, and pop culture.  She has a unique awareness for what’s going on.  She had listened to my record, and was complimentary, we talked about songwriting, and other artists, and just to talk to her about it personally was cool. Just to see that despite how successful she’s become, she still has that country humility.”
