Tim McGraw’s Emotional Moment
Tim McGraw usually plays the outlaw, complete with black cowboy hat. But there’s one thing that can bring this tough guy to tears, and that’s his daughter’s high school graduation. He spoke about it with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton:
“Gracie’s last year at home was tough for me. So was tough going to her graduation, it was pretty emotional. But I’m glad to see her achieve the things she wants to achieve, and get out the world. She’s pretty excited.”
Tim’s daughter Gracie was the subject of another tearful moment last spring: “Faith & I were in New York, you know waiting, everyone was getting their college acceptance letters, and we were sort of waiting, we hadn’t heard anything. And then all of a sudden I get an email from Gracie, and I open it and it’s a forward that she got accepted to her school. And I said ‘Look what I got from Gracie,’ and we were up there just the two of us doin’ something. So I started trying to read it. And I couldn’t, I got two sentences into it, and I just fell apart, and had to hand the phone to Faith to read. It’s one of the greatest moments in my life to get that forward message from my daughter.”
Gracie will be majoring in music. She plays guitar and sings. In fact, Tim says she already has a band: “My garage has been taken over by Gracie and her band. They’ve got an all girl band. They played their first gig, played for an hour, all stuff they wrote. They did one cover, they did ‘Jolene.’ It’s a real garage band! She sings like her mom, that’s the best part.”
