McGraw Readies Music & Movie

Tim McGraw is in the middle of a very busy summer.  Not only is he on the road with his Shotgun Rider Tour.  But he’s also working on a new album and shooting a new movie.  He talked about it with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton.

“Yeah, we’re working on another movie, in the middle of that now.  So I’m touring, doing shows, and flying up doing a new movie in between.  I’m also working on a new album, puttin’ the finishing touches on it now.”

The movie is called The Shack, based on the 2008 book by William P. White. Tim explained, “If you’ve read the book, you know about it and you know what it is.  But my part is…I narrate the movie is one of the things I do, so you’ll hear my voice throughout the movie.  It’s gonna be a really special movie I believe.  The book was pretty special, and the story is really touching. So I think it’s gonna move a lot of people.  It’s a drama, it’s got Octavia Spencer, Sam Worthington, lotta cool people in the movie.”

Tim’s last album, Sundown Heaven Town, was just released last September.  Most artists wait two years between albums.  Why release new music so soon? “I just feel like right now, I’m in the zone of making music, I love being in the studio, I love making records, and I’m ready to play new stuff.” What’s it sounding like? “I can’t tell you too much.  The title of the album will lead you down the path of something special.”  Any special guests?  “There’ll be a few special guests. Not saying who.”  When can we expect it?  “Sometime before Christmas.”
