Kenny: Grace Potter Is Wild Child

Kenny Chesney’s current Top 5 hit “Wild Child” is his second to feature vocals from Grace Potter.  Kenny told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that he wrote the song with Grace in mind:

“I’m drawn to a certain free spirit in a woman.   Someone who loves life, loves love, and loves walking through the world in her own kind of way.  That’s the kind of person I’m attracted to, that’s the kind of person I like being around in my own life.  I guess that comes from spending a lot of time in the islands.  There are a lot of people there who walk through the world that way.  This song is about that kind of person, and it’s everything I believe Grace Potter is, and she was perfect for this song.  There’s a lot of the character in this song that really reflects Grace.  She is a light in this world.  When we wrote the song, I didn’t necessarily know I was gonna go to Grace, because it’s hard to recreate the chemistry of ‘You & Tequila.’  I was a little apprehensive about doing it.  But when she put her vocal on it, it was just magic all over again.  There’s a lot of the character in this song Wild Child that’s true to Grace and made it perfect.”
