Carrie At CMA Fest 2015 Day 3

| June 14, 2015

Carrie 6-13-15This week marks the 10th anniversary of Carrie Underwood’s arrival in Nashville following her American Idol win.   Carrie won Idol on May 25, 2005, and two weeks later she was in Nashville for what was to be a life-changing week of performances and publicity.  The week began June 10, 2005 with her debut at the Grand Ole Opry.  Then a couple days later, she was on stage at LP Field for CMA Fest.  Looking back, she says it was all a blur: “Ten years ago this week was really just a complete chaotic week madhouse, so much stuff happening, cameras flashing, meeting a gazillion people, and of course all the fans, singing at LP Field, I was singing with Phil Vassar, and it was overwhelming and amazing.  It’s still amazing but I feel like I’ve got the hang of it.  It’s not so crazy.”

So what does it feel like to be back on stage after 6 months off? “It feels great, I was nervous just because I had been away from big public events for a while.  This is one of the funnest weeks we have in country music, it’s all about the fans.  I definitely felt welcomed at the CMT Awards, hopefully tonight will be good for that too, so it feels great to be back on stage.”

The last album was a Greatest Hits, which is symbolic for another phase of life, so what are the goals looking forwards? “Well it all came at a great time, it has been ten years, we had the Greatest Hits, I took time off, so it’s like a new chapter in every aspect of my life.  I don’t know what to expect from the next ten years, but as long as I get to do what I enjoy doing, I call that winning.  So we’ll see.  I go where the road takes me.  Just want to keep being creative.”
