Tyler & Blake’s Battle For A Song
We all know the song “A Guy Walks Into a Bar,” as done by Tyler Farr. But it was almost recorded by Blake Shelton. Tyler revealed that story to Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton:
“We were on the Burn It Down Tour last year, and Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert joined us for a few shows. So one day, Blake was hanging around backstage, and I hear him say, ‘Where’s that song stealer?’ Turns out he also had the song on hold. He comes over to me and says, ‘Let’s hear it, song stealer.’ So I played him my recording of the song, and he says, ‘Well done brother, it got to the right person.’ So it was cool to get his approval. Then last fall he invited me to his hunting camp in Oklahoma. So we’ve become pretty good friends because of this song.”
Tell me about Blake’s hunting camp: “He calls it a farm, but I call it Jurassic Park. To me a farm is 150 acres. But this is over 2000. I have a pond, he has a lake. Blake’s friend Tom McMillan was also there shooting a TV show. We just literally cut up the whole time. I think it was ‘Pick on Tyler week.’ When he’s not singing, he does the same as me, he’s either hunting or fishing. He’s been a super nice guy, he tweeted about my new album. It means a lot to me. We caught up at the ACMs, at Miranda’s after-party after she won everything. She’s definitely awesome, Blake definitely outkicked his coverage with her. He’s one of my good friends, so hopefully I’ll get to do a tour with him one of these days.”
