It’s “Wheels Up” For Lady A
Lady Antebellum kicked off it’s 2015 Wheels Up Tour with a media event in Nashville. They showed off their new stage set, performed a few songs, and talked with reporters about their hopes for this summer’s tour. Country Countdown USA was on location and spoke with Charles, Hillary, and Dave about their Wheels Up Tour:
Dave started it off: “I think this is our favorite tour. We’ve talked about it a lot about it together while we’ve been rehearsing. This is our absolute favorite tour. Favorite production, favorite staging and lighting, and more than that it’s a setlist that’s all radio singles. We have a few album cuts for the super fans, but to have this many singles to pack in a show, it’s special for that reason. Plus this staging is blowing us away. To see it here in person is amazing.”
Charles: “We always talk about balancing production and budget, and this one is very expensive, but now I can’t imagine the show without it. There are three screens, three pods, and three of us, so there’s a lot of that. As big as it looks, we have a stripped down moment on ‘Compass,’ we’ll try and have Hunter Hayes come out and play mandolin, and so there is also a smaller stage in the back of the hall, so it won’t be all lights and production.”
The show will begin with their current single, “Long Stretch of Love.” Hillary explained why they start the show with a new song: “We feel like it is so representative of where we are, and that’s what we want to be the first statement we make at the top of the set. As the tour goes on, people will become more familiar with it. But it’s the most representative of us, the longevity we’re wanting to strive for as a band, and it’s a rocker.” Dave added: “It’ll set the tone for the show. It set the tone for the album, we paced out the record behind this song. We wanted to bring that to the show. It kicks off the night with a lot of energy, we’re going to be out all summer, this is our traveling summer camp, and we can’t wait to get on tour.
Lady Antebellum will play about 50 shows in their Wheels Up tour, wrapping up at the end of September. For a complete list of dates, go to LadyAntebellum.com
