Chesney & Aldean Levi’s Stadium

Santa Clara, CA (May 3, 2015) – They started lining long before the 1 p.m. parking lot open to plant the flag of the No Shoes Nation! Without a cloud in the sky, the tail-gating – ringing the entirety of Levi’s Stadium – set the tone for a stadium-sized summer on Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival 2015 Tour, which teamed with Jason Aldean’s Burn It Down Tour for the first of their dozen shows together.

“It’s an absolute honor to be here tonight and open the 49ers Stadium as the first music act,” the 8-time Entertainer of the Year said. “To feel your love, feel you energy… We are here tonight for one reason: because you are here with us tonight! That you care about music, that you have it in your life…”

Dressed in a faded grey t-shirt emblazoned with “Tuff Gong * Kingston, Jamaica” and jeans, the man The Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” looked very much like the people who came to share the music, the night and the exhilaration. They cheered throughout the over two hour set, which saw the return of Aldean for an extended encore that included “Hurt So Good” and “The Only Way I Know.”

When Kenny Chesney kicked off his Big Revival 2015 Tour with two sold-out nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, he knew it was going to be a big summer. But as thrilling as the arena shows are, the man who’s the only country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years – headlining for only 12 – knows he’s the most alive when he’s taking his always high-energy shows to the largest venues.

“I could tell when I was in the box, being taken out to front of house before the show started, the folks in Santa Clara were ready,” Chesney laughed after. “You could feel the anticipation… You could hear the murmur. It was awesome! From the moment I was in the air, right through the end of that first song, it was this wave of whew coming at us – and it got bigger and bigger throughout the night.”

Rolling Stone opined The Big Revival “continuously brings a sense of musical energy and emotional urgency…” upon its release, and that fervor was palpable throughout a night. Playing to just under 46,000 in a single night, it was the kind of energy that only the No Shoes Nation seems to create. From the first notes of “Drink It Up” through ten songs, there was not a pause, a stop or a let up until the collective sigh of the yearning “You & Tequila,” then it was back into the full-tilt, high energy show fans come to expect.

“I know it’s gonna be rockin’ any time we come to the Bay area,” Chesney, who announced the 49ers’ 4^th Round NFL Draft earlier in the day, enthused. “Maybe it’s the year away, maybe it was the full moon… But the crowd at Levi’s Stadium was one of the best crowds we’ve played to ever. They brought it hard, pushed us in the best way – and really took me and the band up with their singing, their cheering, their energy.”

The next stadium on Kenny’s schedule will be Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on May 9th.  He will be joined by Eric Church.  Kenny & Jason reunite in Dallas at AT&T Stadium on May 16.
