Darius Rucker Plays Patriots Party
Darius Rucker is a huge sports fan, and plays in five fantasy football leagues. He’s a life-long Miami Dolphins fan, but loves the game no matter who’s playing. So he’s always ready when someone offers him a chance to perform at the Super Bowl. Even if it’s not the halftime.
This year, Darius took part in several activities during the week. He played a party with Kid Rock at the Phoenix Open. He was at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row club on Friday with Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean. But the highlight, according to Darius, was playing the New England Patriots Victory Party after the Super Bowl. He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “It was awesome! I was hangin’ out with Gronk, it was a good time, they were just so enamored that they had just won the Super Bowl. It was one of those great nights as a sports fan for me. Everybody was still talking about the last play of the game. The best part of the night for me was we finished up, and a whole bunch of players were still hanging out, and they couldn’t believe they didn’t run the ball in that situation.”
So you were set to play that party: “Win or lose! I was a Marshawn Lynch one yard run away from a Tip Top Café night, playing for four people. But there were a lot of people. They had two ballrooms. One band would finish, and the other would start in the other room. I talked to Mr. Kraft. Got to touch the Lombardi Trophy for the first time. That was nice.” Darius said two people he didn’t see at the party were Coach Bill Belichick or Quarterback Tom Brady. But just about everyone else.
