Lady A’s Dave On Baby Watch
Lady Antebellum’s Dave Heywood and wife Kelli are in the final days of their baby watch. The actual due date for their baby boy is next weekend, but Dave told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that it could come sooner: “If I get a phone call during the show, I’ve got to go. She could have the baby at any moment! We’ve got our bags packed for the hospital. We have the nursery all ready. My wife’s doing all the work for this, but pregnancy is nine months to prepare you for what’s about to happen. We’ve been trying to learn as many things as you can, but once it happens, it all goes out the window, and you just have to get through it. But I can’t wait. I can’t wait. We’ve been talking about it for so long, it’s been a great journey so far, and we haven’t even had the baby yet. Kelli’s had a rough few weeks. The pregnancy was totally fine, but these last few weeks, she is ready to be done.”
Dave has had a full year of practice, since band-mate Hillary Scott has been traveling with her year-old baby girl Eisele during their tour. Uncle Dave says he’s been helping Hillary: “I’ve been getting some practice with Eisele, changing her diaper. She’s the cutest kid ever. She’s setting the bar way to high for me to bring a baby out. I’d never had young kids around growing up, so my first exposure to a baby has been Eisele.”
The trio is wrapping up their Take Me Downtown tour this weekend, and then have a few weeks off for Dave & Kelli to have a baby. Then the group releases their new album “747” on September 30.
